Clyde Valley Racing Issued with Court Judgment

Clyde Valley Racing has been issued with a County Court Judgment for failing to honour their agreement with Phiroze Bilimoria in view of the Cartridgeworld sponsorship deal in 2009.

Phiroze, who put the sponsorship deal together with Cartridgeworld and introduced them to Clyde Valley racing with a view to driving for the team in 2009, was sidelined by the team because they needed another driver who could bring additional sponsors with them.

Team Principal Colin Neil, has repeatedly failed to honour his side of the agreement and as such Phiroze Racing Ltd was forced to seek judgment through the courts.

A judgment by St Albans county court was issued on 10th October to Clyde Valley Racing ordering them to honor their agreement and to pay Phiroze Racing Ltd the pre agreed fee.

Colin Neil, has continued to ignore this judgment and as such leaves Phiroze Racing Ltd, no choice but to enforce the judgment through the courts. 30/10/09

Three out of Three in Britcar 500!!

Phiroze scored another 2nd place finish in this weekend's Britcar 500 race at Silverstone. Phiroze who qualified the car in 2nd place was partnered by newcomer Dominic Malone and Britcar returnee Martin Parsons. The race was stared by Dominic who did extremely well in the initial stint to keep the car in 2nd place.

After the first hour, Dom handed to driving duties over to Martin who once again put in a great drive to keep the car in 2nd place. After the third hour, the rain began to fall and the team took the decision to put Phiroze behind the wheel.

On wet rubber, Phiroze was able to put in several quick and consistent laps despite the worsening weather conditions to keep their BMW 130i M in 2nd place. A safety car was dispatched after an hour 3/4, which allowed the team to switch the strategy and bring Phiroze in for a quick splash and dash. This meant that Phiroze who was more experienced than Dominic was able to do a longer stint in the wet conditions.

With the lap times coming down and the gap to third place increasing, Phiroze finally pitted and handed the car over to Dominic for the final leg of the race.

Dominic, once again put in a consistent drive on wet tyres and a drying track to bring the car home in a well deserved 2nd place. "I actually had to keep telling Dominic to slow down in the last 20 mins as we getting concerned with the state of the tyres. Dominic, Martin and the team did a fantastic job and its a great way to finish the season" said Phiroze.

Phiroze is hoping to continue working with Dominic next year and is also planning a campaign in the prestigious 2010 Porsche Carrera Cup Championship. 04/10/09

Another Podium for Bilimoria & Malone...

The Castle Combe racing festival this weekend saw Phiroze and newcomer Dominic Malone take their second podium finish in as many races.

Dominic did most of the testing on Friday and in the Saturday morning practice with as this was only his second race.

The qualifying on Saturday afternoon proved to be quite a challenge with so many GT cars - "trying to find a clear lap was almost impossible" said Phiroze, who set the fastest time of the pairing.

Dominic who started the race on Sunday made a great start and after 45 minutes running had worked his way up to 22nd overall and 3rd in class. Phiroze then took over the BMW machine putting in some consistently quick laps to bring the car home 2nd in class and 17th overall, though a pit stop penalty dropped the pairing to 19th overall from the 35 starters.

"Overall this was a great weekend, and we now have a really good shot at an outright class win at the Silverstone 500" said Bilimoria.

Phiroze on Podium in Britcar Return!!

Phiroze along with newcomer Dominic Malone made a fantastic return to the Britcar Championship on Saturday with a podium finish in race one. This was the first time the car has been raced since it was recently acquired by Brunswick Automotive and was also the first ever race for Dominic Malone, who has been coached by Phiroze.

"Dominic made an impressive start to his racing career and was consistent throughout the weekend", said Phiroze, who was absolutely delighted with the result.

Race two was not quite as successful however. A safety car on lap one, meant the race had to be re-started and an audacious maneuver by a BMW in class one resulted in Phiroze being driven into at turn six ending his race with a broken rear suspension arm.

" The driving standards need to be addressed as this was a pointless overtaking attempt on lap one of a 90 minute race and was hugely disappointing after the result we had on Saturday especially as Dom didn't even get a chance to drive in race two" said Phiroze.

The next race in August is at Castle Combe, Dominic's home circuit where the pairing are looking to repeat the result of race one. 04/05/09

Mallory Park Test

The second outing for the BMW 130iM began in cold and greasy conditions at Mallory Park this morning in the hands of Phiroze Bilimoria. The car ran without any faults and once it was up to temperature, Phiroze handed it over to partner Dominic Malone who put in a number of good consistent laps, to include a simulated race stint.

Phiroze who later took to the track again said "the car is great to drive and extremely well balanced. Dom's confidence is growing with each lap and i cant wait for the first race at Rockingham"

Due to the licence issue with Donington and the ongoing circuit development, the next race has been moved to the Northamptonshire circuit. Fortunately the next test is at Rockingham on Easter Monday, which should give both Phiroze and Dom to put in plenty of laps prior to the first race.10/04/09

Phiroze back in Britcar for 2009!!

After narrowly missing out on his BTCC debut in a SEAT Touring car in 2009, Phiroze has bounced back and will be competing in selected rounds of the 2009 Brticar Championship in a BMW 130iM sport.

Having spent two years putting the sponsorship package together with Cartridgeworld, Phiroze was unable to sign a contract with the team running the car due to a number of contractual issues which had left him without a drive.

However, Phiroze will now be racing with Brunswick Automotive in their newly acquired BMW and will be partnered by newcomer Dominic Malone.

"I have been coaching Dom for a couple of years now and he has shown real promise, so I'm really looking forward to our first outing at Donington in May"

The plan is to do the race in May at Donington Park, followed by Castle Combe, Dom's home track and finally the six hour race at Silverstone, 02/04/09

Great promise from Phiroze at Silverstone...

Phiroze Bilimoria had a promising weekend with the Brookspeed Dodge Viper in the British GT race at Silverstone this weekend. Pre race testing went well on Friday where Phiroze working with Nigel Greensall soon came to grips with the car which suffered from rear end grip all weekend.

On Saturday morning he simulated a race stint to further acclimatise himself with the car and the team. With new tyres in qualifying he managed to lap 0.8 sec a lap quicker than in testing although the car still lacked some rear end grip which left the car in 20th place on the grid, with the quickest Viper in 15th.

Nigel Greensall made the start and had a brilliant run and brought the car up to 3rd place after the first hour. An excellent pit stop by the team when Phiroze took over the car enabled him to move into the lead.

Sadly a diff mounting bracket broke and probably cost a podium place, as he had to pit again before resuming and putting in some excellent laps to bring the car home in a credible 13th place.

“It was a shame we had the problem, I heard a big bang and with no radio was unable to find out what the problem was so, I brought the car into the pits to check if it was serious, I then drove carefully for the remainder of the race to ensure we finished. A mixed weekend but I really enjoyed it; the team did a great job “said Phiroze.

Martin Braybook – Team Principal said he was extremely pleased with Phiroze’s performance and enjoyed working with him. “It was one of the quickest pairing’s of the drivers so far this year.”

Phiroze would also like to thank his sponsors, A Plant and Cobra Beer for their support.

Martin Baybrook, Brookspeed's Team Principal said ‘We are delighted Phiroze has joined the team, we have been in talks for a while now and enjoyed working with him with Track Sensation Corporate Track Days’

After his top 5 finish at the same venue last year he hopes to capitalise on his success for this weekend. ‘ I am lacking a bit of seat time this year but hope to have a good run, I must thank Martin Baybrook and Cobra Beer for giving me this opportunity’

Phiroze will be testing on Friday with qualifying on Saturday and the 2 hour Race on Sunday.

Bilimoria & Glew finish in Top 5 in season Finale!

Phiroze Bilimoria and Philip Glew finished 5th in the GT3 class finale of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship this weekend at Silverstone. For the MPG sponsored Bilimoria, this was the third different car and driver combination in as many races. I’ve now competed in every class in the championship and the GT3 class is the best’ said Bilimoria.
Having been quickest in the morning session on Friday, the St Albans based driver was hoping for a top 3 qualifying position, however an incident with George Mackintosh saw his Lotus drive into the side of the 997 GT3 on the second lap. Once back on track, Phiroze was caught up in traffic and ended the session 6th in class.

Sunday’s race was started by Bilimoria who made good progress during the initial stages of the race, however, with chronic high speed understeer and low speed oversteer, Bilimoria struggled for pace and to keep up with the cars in front. A safety car period was thrown for the stranded Vauxhall Monaro which gave Phiroze the chance to close the gap on the cars in front and to let the tyres cool down. But due to the length of the safety car period, a canny decision was made by the Team RPM boys to bring the No.15 Porsche into the pits early whilst under the safety car and running 5th in class.

With a change of driver and a new set of boots, Philip Glew was able to put in some consistent and quick laps so when the other cars in the GT3 class pitted, Glew was promoted to 3rd place, where he stayed for a majority of the stint. However, with about 40 mins to go, the Aston Martin of Strettton and the Lotus of Kershaw started to reel in the 997 and despite all efforts from Phil, the tyres could not stand up to the pace and Glew was losing a second a lap. With 10 mins to go, the Aston Martin and Lotus were able to slip past and relegated the No 15 car to 5th place where it eventually finished.

‘It was a really good but difficult race and a really steep learning curve said Bilimoria. It would have been nice to finish on the podium but that’s just motorsport! It’s been great that MPG and my other sponsors have supported me and provided me with the opportunity to do these last three rounds as a toe in the water for next year and I’d like to thank them all for their support’ said Bilimoria. 25/9/06

Phiroze back in Porsche!!

After the outing in the Vauxhall Monaro at Brands Hatch Phiroze Bilimoria returns to the Porsche 997 GT3 with Team RPM for the final round of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Silverstone. Bilimoria who is sponsored by MPG said ‘It’ll be great to finally able to race the 997; I’ve been really looking forward to it’

It has been confirmed that 3 time British GT race winner Bradley Ellis will be partnering Bilimoria for the 2 Silverstone races. ‘It’s a great pairing and we should be on for a good result’ said Robin Mortimer, Team principal at Team RPM.

Michael Gallucci of MPG said that ‘The programme to support Phiroze has worked wonders for the profile of our organisation and all the guests that have attended the previous two races have had a fantastic time. We are looking forward to Silverstone and wish Phiroze and Brad all the best’

Bilimoria rises to Monaro Challenge

Friday practice saw Phiroze take the wheel of the Emotional Engineering Vauxhall Monaro for the first time and within a few laps Bilimoria had already adapted to the sideways characteristics of the Monaro. “This car is a lot of fun to drive, but we are struggling for grip and brakes which is affecting our pace” said Bilimoria. Persevering on, the drivers and team worked very hard to try and eradicate the problems and put in some very consistent laps.

Saturday’s practice saw the MPG supported driver put in some consistently quick lap times, however when it came to qualifying, both Steve Hyde and Phiroze could not push as hard as they would have liked as a bearing problem meant a retirement from the qualifying session.

Once released from Park Ferme, the boys at Emotional Engineering worked very hard to get the bearing problems sorted, but unfortunately the car only started the race 6 laps in leaving both Hyde and Bilimoria with an extended test session

Sunday’s race saw Bilimoria take the start with an audacious move into Paddock Hill Bend and then steadily move up the grid. “Unfortunately we had to start the race with old tyres, which meant the car was an even bigger handful than normal, but still and awful lot of fun” said Phiroze. After the 1st safety car period, a battle with the Porsche of Paul Mace soon ensued. However, despite the better brakes and the 270Kg weight advantage, Bilimoria was still able to keep the position and pull out a gap. The 2nd safety car period was the perfect time for Bilimoria to make his pit stop and for Hyde to take the wheel. Unfortunately complications during the pit stop meant that the 10th place Bilimoria gained was rapidly diminishing.

With the tyres and brakes now very stressed, Hyde was not able to with stand the pressure from the hard charging Porsches and slipped back to 19th place where the car eventually finished.

“I thoroughly enjoyed driving the Monaro this weekend and am very grateful to Allen Orchard for getting us out of a sticky situation” said Bilimoria.

The British GT Championship now moves to Silverstone over the weekend of 23/24 September where Phiroze will be back at the wheel of the Porsche 997 GT3 with Team RPM..

Bilimoria makes a late switch to GT2 class Monaro!

After his solid run in the GTC class Porsche 996 of Team RPM at Rockingham, Bilimoria was all set to climb aboard his 997 GT3 for this weekend’s upcoming race at Brands Hatch. However, the gearbox problems that plagued the young Indian in testing at Rockingham have not yet been resolved due a shortage of parts from Porsche, leaving him with no seat.

Team RPM have worked extremely hard to try and find a solution but with all the Porsche Carrera Cup cars heading off to Knockhill in a weeks time there are no new gearboxes or spare parts available, leaving his 997GT3 unable to run this weekend.

A late call from Allen Orchard at Emotional Engineering has resolved the situation. The MPG sponsored driver will now be driving the No 6 Vauxhall Monaro partnering Steve Hyde for the next two races at Brands Hatch this weekend. Asked why he made the switch with drivers - “We have had a very fluid situation with the team over the past few races and when we heard Phiroze was available and after his stunning performance last weekend, we were delighted to have him on board” said Orchard.

“Unfortunately we could not get a replacement gearbox for the 997 GT3 car this weekend, but the call from Allen was a welcome solution. I’ve known Allen for a while and I am really looking forward to working with him and getting in the car. This is a great opportunity to run in the top class of the Championship” said Bilimoria.

Michael Gallucci of MPG said “Being thrown in at the deep end is not alien to Phiroze; after all he only drove RPM’S spare 996 GTC car in last weekend’s race for the first time when he took it over from Nigel Redwood in the middle of race one and we still finished in the top 5! We’re all behind him and are really looking forward to great race this weekend!”

Phiroze Rocks the Rock!

Making his first race-start in two years, young Indian driver Phiroze Bilimoria overcame a challenging weekend, to help bring his GT3 home in the points in front of VIP guests from sponsors MPG, Cobra and DWP.

Friday 11 August - Practice
Track conditions at the Northamptonshire circuit were dry, as Phiroze took to the wheel of the Porsche 997 GT3 for the first time. Working closely with team-mate Nigel Redwood and Team Manager Robin Mortimer, Phiroze consistently improved throughout the morning, to end the session mid-class. In the afternoon however, the team did not fare so well: the gearbox failed, ending any chance of the team taking further part that weekend. Or maybe not…

Saturday 12 August - Qualifying
The RPM mechanics worked until the early hours of the morning, preparing the team’s spare 996, which Phiroze had never driven, ready for Saturday’s dry qualifying session. With just 15 minutes on the clock, Nigel spent the majority of that running that the car in, before completing an awesome lap which took the duo to fourth in class and ninth overall. The team’s delight was short-lived though: the car returned to the pits with a slipping clutch. With just ten minutes until the qualifying session for Sunday’s race, there wasn't’t the opportunity for the team to carry out any repairs and so Phiroze had to nurse the car through three tours of the circuit, in order to qualify the car at the back of the grid for Sunday’s race.

Race One – Saturday afternoon
Yet more exceptional work from the RPM crew in replacing the clutch allowed Nigel to take to the grid for the opening stint of the race. He made a good start, moving to third in class, and enjoyed some early on-track tussles with the Morgan Aero and the sister RPM Porsche, driven by Bradley Ellis. The driver change at the mid-point of the race gave Phiroze his first opportunity to turn the wheel in anger, and as the chequered flag fell, he brought the car home fifth in class and seventh overall, narrowly missing out on fourth place to a hard-charging Mark Cole in the final laps.

“With all the odds against us, I am pretty happy with our performance today,” said Bilimoria.

Race Two – Sunday morning
Two challenges faced the team for Sunday’s race: the start from the back of the grid and the weather, as heavy rain blasted the track all day. With just ten minutes until the race, the weather turned with the sun finally breaking through and the decision was quickly made to switch to slicks.

Phiroze was to take the opening stint in the 60-minute race and with a demon start, he charged into the first corner past the Lotus, to immediately take on the Manaro. With each lap that passed, Phiroze continued to pick off the cars in front of him, making up an impressive 11 grid places. Once past the Morgan Aero, Phiroze was able to open a comprehensive seven second gap, but had to then ease off the pace to conserve a leaking gearbox. The Morgan pitted early and put in some quick out-laps, catching and passing the no. 17 RPM Porsche during its pit stop.

Redwood began the charge as soon as he took to the track, closing the gap to 2.2 seconds, and when the safety car was deployed for a bizarre half lap, he brought the gap down still further. However, when the safety car pulled off with little warning, the Morgan was at full pace and immediately pulled out a gap. With the RPM Porsche’s gearbox still leaking oil, Redwood made the decision to hold station and bring the car home sixth in class and tenth overall.

“That was a great result – I’m absolutely thrilled seeing as we started from the back of the grid. The team have been exceptional all weekend and I’m delighted that we’ve helped them move into second in the GTC Championship. Rock on Brands” said Bilimoria.

The British GT Championship now moves to Brands Hatch over the weekend of 26/27 August.

Britain’s top Indian racing driver goes Porsche!

After his stunning debut in Britain's fastest motoracing Championship in 2003, talented young Indian driver Phiroze Bilimoria joins up with one of the world's most recognised marques - Porsche for his debut outing in 2004.

As the British GT championship hangs in the balance the defending 2003 Championship winning team have drafted Phiroze in to support their attempt to win the championship for a second year running.

"Le Mans has always been a dream of mine and of course Porsche is synonymous with that great race, the British GT Championship is very prestigious & a solid proving ground for young drivers looking at Le Mans – so I was really excited to get the deal done and to race with one of the top teams in the highly competitive British GT Championship. It's a great opportunity as the car I'm driving supports their Championship Campaign which will be decided at Brands Hatch"

The British GT Championship is Britain’s premier Championship for Le Man style cars Such as Porsche, Ferrari and TVR. This debut represents another unique first by the young Indian driver who in 2003 was also the first Indian to race in the 170 Mph+ days of Thunder Series backed by Cobra Beer.

"I'm getting a lot of interest from Asian companies wishing to use my motoracing as a publicity platform. I wouldn't call it media frenzy but the amount of interest has been very exciting. Priority one is the up coming race but I also have to use it as a launching pad to secure sponsorship for the 2005 season" says Phiroze.
